UNDER THE DREAM is the first film to chart the rise of dream tech: neurotechnologies that interface directly with the dreaming mind. Blending documentary + fiction (wake + dream), UNDER THE DREAM introduces profound questions about the future stakes for our minds at night. A work of somatic cinema, the film puts the audience front and center as the main character, through a first person camera POV– just like a dream. Accompanied by the Dream Doula, our guide through the dreamscape, we meet the scientists and technologists building dream tech, the companies venturing into dream advertising and data mining, and the cultural dream practitioners who protect dreaming as a sacred space.
UNDER THE DREAM received the Creative Science Nonfiction Accelerator Award from Sandbox Films and Gamechanger Films, a Knight New Work Grant from the Knight Foundation, and was selected for the 2024 CPH: DOX Pitch Forum in Copenhagen. Saelyx was a finalist for the Sloan Science in Cinema Filmmaker Fellowship and was named a 2025 Confluence Fellow by True/False Film Festival. She is co-producer and co-host of a podcast about dream tech and science, and is a member of the Guild of Future Architects.
